xhrl_ One of my musical guilty pleasures! Hardly serious, unless one means serious fun. The musical skill is top shelf. As well, this Ol Drake LP will likely appeal to progressive or technical death aficionados. There is a distinct classical influence throughout these instrumental songs, not just on the nod to Bach. Yet this is not serious thinking man's progressive / death metal & it doesn't claim to be. I think of this much as I do about Cannibal Corpse; great fun but only serious in its fun. Favorite track: I'll Be Bach (Get It?).

Pretty much the best Black/Speed Metal I've listened to since I learned about Evil Invaders and Vulture. Everything you'd love to be reminded of about this musical era is there. The influences are what you'd expect too: Motörhead, Venom, Bathory, early Slayer, Celtic Frost; aggressive vocals, tortured guitar solos, pounding drums; everything is fast, clear and still a little grimy, but without reverb cranked up to the max.
